Bolton the Cowboy for a crisis

first_imgHow the Cowboys cope with life after Tamou and Hannant has been the question asked most often in Townsville over the summer but Bolton has won the right to partner co-captain Matt Scott in the front row against the Raiders on Saturday night. The renowned outdoorsman of the Cowboys squad, Bolton missed six weeks of the Cowboys’ premiership season in 2015 due to an injury incurred whilst fishing and along with Blake Leary and Ben Spina regularly pull in barramundi more than a metre in length in the waterways of the state’s north. When one of the Cowboys’ under-20s got their 4WD bogged at a river’s edge on Sunday two other players came to their aid… only to get bogged themselves. So an SOS was sent to Bolton who in fading light extricated one of the stranded vehicles before heading back on Monday afternoon to retrieve the others.”They rang me at about 6 o’clock to come and try and tow them out and it got dark so I didn’t want to go out too far,” Bolton told”There were three cars stuck out there – two of them went out to help them – and they got bogged. I got one out and the other two are still there.”Bolton is also the man Cowboys coach Paul Green has turned to in his hour of need ahead of a host of young props eager to prove themselves in the top grade. With the window of opportunity well and truly open, the likes of Sam Hoare, Patrick Kaufusi, Braden Uele and Corey Jensen have done all they can to push for a spot in the 17 for Round 1 but it will be Bolton who gets first crack at the big Raiders pack.Entering his 11th season with the Cowboys Bolton has started in the front row only 11 times in his 178 career games to date and says coming back for a second stint later in games will be the major adjustment to his previous role from the bench.”I’ve started both the trials and thought what I did there wasn’t too bad and fingers crossed I can get a start at the start of the year this weekend and hopefully cement a spot through the year, prove myself as a starting front-rower,” Bolton said.”The only thing that will change is probably the time that I’m actually on the field during games and I might get a couple more minutes with a bit of luck with the two stints.”If I can get two stints then the minutes will be up and hopefully I can do a bit more work out there.”It’s a bit more of a mental preparation, trying to get yourself in that state of mind. I’m used to doing the one stint and coming off and not having to go back on you do relax a bit more and go into more of a spectator’s role.”Having to go back out there is something that I will have to get used to and something I’ve worked pretty hard on to get my lungs going again just after half-time because I know I’m going to get back out there.”Very much cut from the cloth of the old school front-rowers, Bolton says he will bypass any sideline stints on the bike for a few simple laps up and down the sideline prior to returning to the field. The addition of former Raider Shaun Fensom gives the Cowboys additional depth in the middle of the field and while others may question the club’s prop department Bolton is excited to see how the young front-rowers develop during the season.”Those blokes were ripping into us a bit that whole pre-season and looking to put their best foot forward for a spot,” Bolton said of the competition for places.”Everyone was talking about that depth being a bit light on in the front row so everyone was keen to put a good impression in and it will be good for us in the long run.”I’m pretty lucky that I’ve grown up and watched these younger kids come through and I know what they can do.”I’m looking forward to playing alongside them and obviously myself and Matthew with a bit more experience have to help them through just with the consistency of it.”We’ve got a lot of depth here and definitely a lot of ability so it’s just a matter of putting those performances on the field.”If we can start well I think it will help them through those games especially early in the year.”last_img read more

Broncos’ Hunt happy with improvement

first_imgHunt’s heroics were not enough, with the Broncos falling 21-20 to the Cowboys in another exhilarating golden point contest at Suncorp Stadium. Despite the loss, there are positive signs for Brisbane and their fans, with Hunt putting in an inspiring 80-minute performance. After receiving a lot of criticism during the week about his poor kicking performance in Round 1, Hunt bounced back in a big way and sent a message to his critics. The 26-year-old produced two try assists off the boot, putting two perfectly weighted grubber kicks in for James Roberts and Darius Boyd respectively. He also kicked an important 40/20 and accumulated 394 kicking metres for the match. It was a mature performance that saw Hunt named Brisbane’s man of the match, and if it wasn’t for Cowboy Johnathan Thurston’s field goal heroics, Hunt would be the halfback stealing the headlines. Despite the strong performance, Hunt told media after the clash that he still wants to work on aspects of his game and he is confident that he will do so successfully. “I have a lot of belief in myself,” Hunt said.  “I was happy with a lot of my kicks because they were a lot better than what they have been, but I still think I have some things I can improve on. “I found the winger on the full a couple of times and put a ball dead so there’s still some work to do. “The two try assists just came from practice. When I see the fullback in the line I like to put a little grubber through. “It’s just something I’ve been working on. For me it’s game awareness and knowing where the fullback is.”It will be a tactic that Hunt will look to use when the Broncos travel to play the unbeaten Storm in Melbourne in Round 3 of the NRL Telstra Premiership. Hunt is already looking ahead to that match, and he said he expects a grinding battle that is decided by the forwards in the middle of the park. “They’ve always produced quite a challenge for us down there,” he said.  “They had a pretty good win against the Warriors so we expect them to be strong. “It’s always a tough grinding game and they have some excellent players. “In saying that, I like playing in Melbourne. It’s a great place and their fans are always passionate.”last_img read more

Stat Attack: Hiku solves Warriors’ centre problem

first_imgCentre has long been a problem position for the Auckland club, particularly finding one who could be relied upon defensively. Not since Brent Tate left the club in 2012 has there been genuine stability on the right edge. But ask Shaun Johnson and he’ll tell you that void has finally been filled by Hiku, a Warriors junior who rejoined the club this season after five seasons in the NRL with Manly and Penrith and a brief stint in England.”Collectively that right edge have done an awesome job so far this year and Peta has been a rock there for us,” he said.”He never shies away from a tough carry and for me, defending inside him, he is always into me about where to be and that. He has helped myself, Tohu (Harris) and David (Fusitu’a) a lot.”Hiku has always been known as a solid defender, but he has shown flashes of brilliance with ball in hand this season and he is a big reason why Fusitu’a sits atop the Telstra Premiership’s leading try-scorer list. The 25 year-old is averaging 131.3m per game and has three clean line breaks to go with his pair of try assists.Hiku admits to being “more or less” pleased with his personal form, but says there is still a lot of room to improve.”Attacking wise, I feel like I’m going alright but I’m not satisfied with my defence just yet so that is something I will continue to work on,” he said.”Nobody can do it on their own. If there is one person slacking off it throws the whole defensive line so if we can all just key in and do our jobs individually, we should go all right on Friday against a tough Dragons side.”The Warriors were enjoying a record-breaking five wins on the trot to start the season before being upset 27-18 by the Brisbane Broncos last Friday at Mt Smart Stadium.”The streak was never an issue for us, everyone has a loss in their season, we haven’t done anything different this week in terms of our preparation,” Hiku said.”We just all need to bring the energy this week because we know we were off  (against the Broncos).”last_img read more

“Congratulations to Cristiano’s mother for such a specimen!”

first_imgMaurizio Sarri is enjoying his first year directing Juventus and, above all, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese is not in his best scoring year and injuries have complicated his campaign but he is returning to his best level in this stretch of the year for the enjoyment of the fans and also of his coach. Thus, after the victory in Coppa against Roma in which Cristiano scored the first goal of the 3-1 final, Maurizio Sarri got rid of praise for the crack of Madeira in the subsequent press conference. “Cristiano is in an extraordinary physical and mental condition, he is marking at an impressive rate. A defect? Hard to improve, it is one of the greatest of all time. It would be important for us to help you win your sixth Golden Ball. If you could still improve something it would be great luck. Congratulations to your mother for creating such a specimen! “Said the coach. He also reviewed the situation of other players. He said he did not care about Buffon’s age, that Douglas Costa is returning and “will not yet reach 90 minutes” in addition to congratulating Rugani and He regretted that Higuaín, who attended Cristiano in the 1-0, failed to score against Roma. This weekend, Serie A will return and Juventus will have to cross the country to visit Naples in San Paolo. Sarri will return to his hometown to face his team that he considers “a strong team.” “I know the players and I know they have great qualities. A match is a very dangerous team,” he said. “It was not a normal experience, it was strong. From the human point of view it is particular, “he said about the reception of the Neapolitan fan, which did not do anything good to sign for his eternal rival after passing through Chelsea.last_img read more

Simeone: “We have to convey that we are alive”

first_img-Koke returns after several games without playing …-It’s coming back, we’ll see if it’s your turn to start from the beginning, but to talk about Koke is to talk about the players that started from the first day I arrived here. He was close to going to Malaga and shared our entire process. Technically he is a different soccer player, he sees more than the others and with him in the field we have more options to create game situations that lead us to the goal.-With Liverpool just around the corner, what challenge does LaLiga put in?-We have all endings, we have a challenge and an important responsibility. We are going to compete with teams that are very good. We don’t go from game to game, we always believed in that. I expect a full stadium understanding the situation of the team and the team understanding the situation of the championship. This is the most important. -It invites the team to go upstairs to play when any player plays. Marcos Llorente has vitality, strength, his acceleration in the transfer of the ball is one of his virtues and the team can progress meters in the field. We need your energy and all the kids that are going to play.-How are the injured?-This week Diego Costa has joined the trainings, they saw him approaching us, he is looking forward to it and the doctors will mark the discharge when appropriate. It is an enthusiasm to have him close, it is important for the group and when we return we will have a player who has always given us a lot.-Real Madrid and Barcelona are out of the Cup. What do you think?-I’m respectful to all teams. We focus on improving, leaving the dynamic that is not good and hopefully people can be, as it has always done and we can transmit to the championship that we are alive.– Does it influence Granada to have Cup semifinals?-Winning is always positive to feed the ego, the pride, the dynamics of competing .. They are worthy of the moment they live, they had a fall, but they have recovered points in LaLiga, they make good football and otherwise they would not reach an end of Copa del Rey. Of course-You have to change the pair of strikers again ….-The coaches are in the situation that we have to find solutions. This year, last year, every year I’ve been at Atlético. We will find the solutions based on searching. – He said the other day that Marcos Llorente gives them energy …last_img read more

The unanswered questions from the 20 LaLiga teams

first_imgBy José Antonio Espina.Real Sociedad: Willian José, Odegaard and ChampionsWould Willian José have obtained total forgiveness from the fans of Real? The Brazilian striker refused to play a game with Real to force his sale to Tottenham in January. The operation did not go ahead and finally stayed. He publicly asked for forgiveness, but since then he hasn’t raised his head. In Ipurua, in the only game behind closed doors before the league was suspended due to the coronavirus crisis, he finally scored again, and began to win the full forgiveness of the realistic supporters. He was on the right track, but it is unknown if he had succeeded.Would Real have managed to hold on to Champions League positions? The San Sebastian team came to a halt due to the COVID19 health alert in fourth place that gives access to the Champions League, something that had been around all season. But he had two demanding commitments against Osasuna and Alavés. Of course, he was going through a moment in a spectacular way when winning 9 of his last 11 games, a dynamic that is never easy to give continuity.Would Ødegaard have recovered the elf he had on the first lap?The Norwegian player on loan from Real Madrid, after being the revelation of the league in the first round, was going through a moment of less brilliance in his game because of some muscle discomfort that dragged. But he always left details of his enormous class. Undisputed starter for Imanol, he channeled the entire realistic game, and was carefully taken to recover his best version, as evidenced by the fact that he reserved it in the last game played so far in Spain, in Ipurua.PEPE ANDRES & nbsp; (DIARIO AS) ‘); return false; “class =” item-multimedia “>FOOTBALL 18/19PEPE ANDRES (DAILY AS) Would Bale make himself important again? That the Zidane-Bale relationship has been broken has been a reality since summer, when the coach publicly asked that he leave. But he stayed and the French decided to pull him. He started as a starter, but little by little he became irrelevant and did not have a minute in the games against Barcelona and Betis. The question is whether the Welshman, a man given to appear at important moments, would have done it again in the fight to raise a new White League.Would the white solidity return?Madrid cemented its best moment of this season from the defensive solidity, but the defeat against Real in the Cup destroyed everything. Including that match, Madrid have conceded 12 goals in seven games. Nothing to do with Madrid who accumulated four goals received in 13 days.By Manu de Juan.Seville: Champions, Banega, De Jong …Would Sevilla keep the Champions League streak going? The victories against Getafe and Osasuna and the draw at Wanda had once again packed Lopetegui.Would he recover the best Banega? After two games without playing and bad minutes before, the Argentine had returned to a good level against Atlético.Would forwards De Jong and En-Nesyri keep the streak going? In recent times and with the Dutch above all discussed, one and the other were scoring important goals for Sevilla.JAVIER GANDUL & nbsp; (DIARIO AS) ‘); return false; “class =” item-multimedia “>FOOTBALL 17/18JAVIER GANDUL (DAILY AS) By Javier Mata.Granada: Europe, the greats and FernándezWould Granada come to Europe with the streak that came? The team has salvation in its pocket and was going through a great moment. It is seven points from Europe, but in Granada you dream.Would Luis Enrique call Carlos Fernández? It has been one of the revelations of the season, he has eight goals between league and cup and was at his best moment of the course.Would Madrid win at the Cármenes?Granada made their field a fortress where Barcelona lost (2-0) and Atlético tied (1-1). Before the greats, the Nazaries have grown.By Aimara G. Gil.Athletic: Aduriz, Beñat and score …Would Aduriz have reached the Top-5 of Athletic scorers?Aritz has left his injury behind and almost all questions hang over his figure. He has 172 goals and is seven from the legendary José Iraragorri, the fifth goalscorer in the history of the rojiblanco club. In addition, he dreams of retiring with the Cup, another challenge.Could Beñat and San José have said goodbye in the field?Beñat and San José end the contract and have a very difficult time to renew. The second is counting something else, but the exbético has not played since February 9. It will be interesting to see if they count something before the curtain falls. And if Herrerín returns to act, since Unai Simón closes the door to him.Would Garitano have reached 53 points last year?Athletic currently has 37 points. 33 remain to be disputed. Last year Garitano worked the miracle until he touched the European classification. He lost it on the last day. He stayed at 53. The challenge is to reach that figure.By Alfonso Herranz.Osasuna: Chimy, Gallego and salvationChimy was key in the team. Since his injury, the team’s numbers have dropped. Would the equipment have been retrofitted in time?Osasuna was doing a remarkable season in his return to Primera and conviction with his game, with the high pressure that characterizes the game of those of Arrasate. Before the break, Osasuna had 34 points. Salvation seemed very close. Would it have come soon? Would they have had to suffer? They managed to make history, managing to add 31 consecutive games without losing in El Sadar, a streak that Athletic broke. To the suspension of the League they were very close to salvation, since they had added 34 points and everything indicates that they had been saved without major problems.Lato, Arnaiz and Gallego have barely had time to demonstrate anything. What would have been its performance? It is an unknown the performance that would have given the arrivals in the winter market, Lato, Arnaiz and Enric Gallego. None of the three has had enough time to demonstrate what they could have contributed.By Uxue M. de ZúñigaBetis: Rubi, Pedraza and Loren …Would Betis have maintained the winning inertia that began against Real Madrid? The victory against the Whites returned the state of joy just before the Seville derby.Would Rubi keep Loren in the ownership? The coach alternated with Borja and the Marbella player in the starting lineup, but Loren, after scoring for Valencia and playing well against the Whites, aspired and maintained himself.Would Pedraza be able to take ownership? The winger returned to play good minutes after injured games and aims to take Alex Moreno’s place on the winger.By José Antonio Espina.Levante: Roger, goals, style of play …Would Levante have won their first victory at Mestalla?Levante faced its 14th Valencia derby at Mestalla with the ambition of achieving its first victory in its 110-year history after nine defeats and four draws in previous clashes. Paco López, who debuted last year with defeat in his first derby, would have emerged as the coach with the most matches in the First Division with the Orriols team in the black and white feud, beating Juan Igancio Martínez.Would Roger have surpassed his best goal scoring in the First Division? The national top scorer, Roger Martí, tied with Lucas Pérez and Gerard Moreno, is two goals away from surpassing his best record in the First Division, the 13 goals of last season. With a double in the derby on the first lap, the ‘Gunman’ aimed at the derby to get it.Would the campaign have become the second international for Spain in granota history?José Campaña was in Luis Enrique’s prelist for the friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands. However, he was in a position where there is ‘overbooking’ of possibilities for the coach. Having entered the list, the Andalusian would be the second granota to wear La Roja after Ernesto Domínguez (1964).By Luis Sancho.Alavés: Garitano, Lucas and Pacheco …Would Lucas Pérez still be the best national scorer in the category? The Galician winger has 11 goals, is tied with Gerard and Roger. He forms a devilish couple with Joselu (20 goals between them) and tried to expand his account.Would Asier Garitano renew before the end of the season? The blue-and-white coach, on a tightrope during the first lap, was straightening the course and if he achieved mathematical permanence before the end of the season, the renewal could have been offered.Would Alavés sell Fernando Pacheco to Seville, the main bidder? The albiazul meta is one of the best in LaLiga and suitors arise every summer. It is a luxury for Alavés, a back bra. It seems inevitable that sooner or later a big one will come and take it away.By Alfonso Herrán.Valladolid: Ben Arfa, salvationWould he take a place in the eleven Ben Arfa? The Franco-Tunisian arrived a month and a half ago and has only played two games, 13 minutes each, for not being physically well. Now it takes 4 weeks with a special plan. Will Valladolid be saved with fewer problems than last year?In 2018-19 they had to wait for the penultimate day to achieve mathematical salvation. This year they are looser, but they still need three wins and a draw to reach 40 points.By Ignacio Bailator.Eibar: Bernabéu, system and Soares …Would Eibar have struck the bell with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu?The meeting was very complicated for the Eibarreses, who, in addition, lowered their performance as visitors, but there was much hope to face this event, in which the meringues were more aware of the City.Would Mendilibar have aligned a 4-4-2 system, with 2 forwards, at the Bernabéu?Mendilibar is a brave coach, who has already employed a 4-4-2, with two forwards at Ipurua. But it was useless against Real Madrid who thrashed 0-4, so he could change his plans.Would Soares have triumphed at Ipurua? The Portuguese player has not been released with the gun shirt. It can be said that it was a failed signing. Cote is untouchable but there is no question whether this tiredness would have left him room.By Alfonso Herranz.Celtic: the scheme, Denis and AspasAspas scored in the last two games in Balaídos, was his streak going to allow him to position himself as the top Spanish scorer in LaLiga?Iago Aspas had recovered his best version, scoring in the last two games in Balaídos, and after resting by sanction in Getafe he was going to return to lead the sky-blue against Villarreal. Denis Suárez had options to reappear before the yellow submarine. Was Óscar going to keep this streak of undefeated games? The break cools the best moment of Celta this season. Óscar’s team has been unbeaten for five games in a row and has not conceded a goal in the last three. Was Denis Suárez going to force himself to play in two key games like duels with Villarreal and Valladolid?Denis Suárez had options to reappear before the yellow submarine.By Abraham Martínez.Mallorca: Kubo, Budimir and direct rivalsWould Mallorca have been saved? The latest results build confidence with 7 of the last 12 points added. The team based on results had gained in confidence and began to believe in the possibility of moving the situation forward.Would you have beaten direct rivals like Celta and Leganés at Son Moix?Reliability at home gave the team a lot of solvency at home. Probably yes. The trident Budimir-Kubo-Cucho had begun to decide in the opposite area and that together with the solvency at home made think of winning Celta and Leganés as direct rivals.Would Budimir have been the debutant top scorer? With 9 goals and in a fight with Sevilla player Ocampos with 10 he had possibilities as an area striker. Escorted by players like Kubo, Cucho, Dani Rodríguez or Lago Junior, the Croatian was a sure candidate for the best debut scorer.By Gabriel Forteza.Leganés: descent, Óscar and AssaléWould Leganés have achieved a key takeoff? After winning at Villarreal (first win away from home since May 2019), the squad wanted to face a key duel against Valladolid at home. A victory would have put the Blue and Whites on a comeback that is now unknown with the break.Would Oscar keep his recitals? The one from Los Navalmorales has become the burning nail of a Leganés who has him as an offensive reference and also a more unbalanced player. Against Villarreal he made a double that makes him the team’s top scorer with seven goals. The question remains whether he would have prolonged his streak.Would Assalé have won options? The Ivory Coast player played a few minutes against Villarreal and it was a revolution. And that only touched eleven balls and gave four passes. I do not care. Quick and vertical he dismounted the yellow defense and showed Aguirre that he can play as a starter. That of Valladolid would have been an excellent test for its offensive virtues.By Javier Martín.Espanyol: RDT, Abelardo and the descentWould Raúl de Tomás have equaled his six goals from the second round with Rayo before the break? It was reasonable to believe that yes, since although he remained unmarked in El Sadar, he did not do so against Atlético but his was half of Savic’s own goal. And in the previous four games he did accumulate as many goals.Would Abelardo’s team have won against Alavés their second win at home in all of LaLiga? On the one hand, it seems difficult to believe it because in the previous 13 games he only defeated Mallorca. On the other, he had been undefeated in Cornellà since December, who had been prowling the market in recent games. And this was not going to be less.Would Espanyol have reversed the path to relegation? There were few reasons for hope after the defeat against Osasuna, but Espanyol faced two games in a row to get on the last train of the stay, against Alavés and Getafe, for which the team had concentrated with a mini stay in Navata .By Iván Molero.NIKOLAY DOYCHINOV & nbsp; (AFP) ‘); return false; “class =” item-multimedia “>FBL-EUR-C3-LUDOGORETS-ESPANYOLNIKOLAY DOYCHINOV (AFP) The coronavirus has suddenly paralyzed football. A sudden stop that leaves millions of questions unanswered in the air. The tightest League in recent years had the lure of surprise. On the one hand, the ‘weak’ hand-to-hand between Barcelona (58) and Madrid (56) is the tightest in recent times. The push and pull between the two is heartbreaking if we stick to statistics. The current LaLiga leader has 58 out of 81 possible points. If Barça has left 23 points on the road, Madrid has done the same but with 25. Very far away is Atlético de Simeone in sixth place with 45 points and more focused on the Champions League.Surprising is also the main role of Getafe de Bordalás. The azulones are fifth with 46 points the same as Real Sociedad (in the Champions area). Without a doubt, both are the two revelation sets of the season. The people of Madrid triumph in Europe (after defeating Ajax) and the Basques are already in the final of the Copa del Rey against Athletic Club de Bilbao. The relegation zone has not changed as much as the leader: Mallorca (25), Leganés (23) and Espanyol (20) are on fire and who knows if they would have turned the situation around. AS correspondents collect the thousands of questions that remain in the air after the football break.Barcelona: Setién, Braithwaite, scarves …Would Setién establish a game scheme? The Cantabrian coach had to give up his idea of 3-5-2 at the first change. Then he tried the 4-3-3 which he has alternated with the 4-4-2. The game system at the time of the break was the latter with Vidal as a false striker.Braithwaite was the solution?© MIGUEL RUIZ & nbsp; (DIARIO AS) ‘); return false; “class =” item-multimedia “>BARCELONA 19/20© MIGUEL RUIZ (DIARIO AS) Would Portu have regained prominence in the eleven instead of the reborn Januzaj? The Murcian player, the most expensive signing last summer, Vale had overtaken Januzaj on the right with his good numbers. But the Belgian had taken away his position with a last month with which he has been reborn. But Portu is a lot of Portu, he never gives up, and already in Ipurua he gave his eighth assist of the season starting from the bench. He had everything to regain his lost place in a battle for the right wing that was presumed precious in the Royal.Would Alexander Isak have continued to dazzle Europe? The Swedish striker had slowed somewhat in recent games, but had continued to have chances. His last goal was precisely at the Camp Nou and he had 5 games without seeing a goal. Deyverson had relegated him to being the fourth striker despite being the top scorer.Would you achieve the physique to make history in 2 competitions?Bordalás had greatly reduced his confidence group and they were hardly going to be able to keep up. Especially in the center of the field with injured ztimor and Etebo not registered in Europe. Too much for Arambarri and MaksimovicWill Bordalás continue at the end of the course? It is a question that has not disappeared, but the circumstances have changed with the break. Suitors will not be missing, but it is a mystery with all the benches occupied and without end. Before the break, everyone was betting because it would be his last season at the Coliseum. Of course, it was expected that he would be a little closer to Europe and it has always been difficult for him to be in that area. Chukwueze would return to the level of last season and return to the starting team. Or would he still not fully enter the team?It is a team that scores goals, but they also score many goals. The previous campaign had a great level, but it seems to be far from those records.Would Calleja still keep Gerard Moreno in the band, or would he bet on a couple up with Paco Alcácer? The yellows will see a pair of attack formed by Gerard and Alcácer, the one that the coach does not bet on now. Calleja likes to have Gerard in the band and only one reference above, although he already tried two forwards. In the last three games, he had lived three scarves.By Santi Giménez.Real Madrid: leadership, Benzema and BaleWas Madrid going to be able to regain the lead? After the victory in the Clásico, the trigger came in Seville and Barça returned to the top. Madrid signed against Betis one of their worst games of the season and the heavyweights were very self-critical. The question is whether they would have reversed the situation. The calendar was on the white side: he played one more game at home than the Catalans (six against five) and those of Setién still had to face Seville, Athletic and Atlético de Madrid. Was Benzema going to find the path of the goal again? He scored in Seville thanks to the penalty awarded to him by Ramos, the first pitcher in the squad. But Benzema’s performance in recent months was disappointing: two goals in the last eleven days. Very little for the ‘nine’ of Madrid, who came in addition to signing 12 goals in the first 16 LaLiga games.
