Economic Development Department Names New Recruitment Chief

first_imgMONTPELIER, Vt. – The Vermont Department of Economic Development has promoted one of its own to lead the program responsible for recruiting businesses to come to Vermont.Brennan Duffy has been named to the position of Director of Recruitment for the Vermont Department of Economic Development, according to Commissioner Mike Quinn.”Brennan has been a great addition to our team, and will continue his leadership in the recruitment post,” Quinn said. “By attracting and assisting out-of-state companies to expand in or relocate to Vermont he will to help grow the state’s economic base and create jobs for our citizens.””Having grown up in Vermont, I am very excited about working in this new capacity,” Duffy said. “I’m looking forward to working with the state’s many partners in our efforts to attract quality businesses to the Green Mountains.”Duffy, 35, had previously served in the Department as an Economic Development Specialist focusing on existing business retention and expansion; and working with Vermont manufacturers through the Vermont Training Program.After graduating from the University of Vermont with B.A. and from the University of Rhode Island with an M.B.A., Duffy worked as a Business Development Coordinator in Southern California for Infinity Property and Casualty Corporation.Upon returning to Vermont in 2002 he served as president and co-founder of a Vermont company, Over the Edge Products, LLC, where he worked to develop an innovative idea into a line of patented and nationally distributed kitchenware products.Duffy replaces JoAnn Hollis, who left the position to become the Rutland Economic Development Corporation’s Executive Director.The Department of Economic Development is part of the Agency of Commerce and Community Development.For more information, visit www.thinkvermont.com(link is external)last_img
